Uploading a Rap

Uploading your original rap or hip hop mp3 to Rate My Rap is quite simple.

  1. Make your MP3 file compatible with our audio player by making sure the sample rate is 11, 22, or 44KHz
  2. Register for your free account
  3. Verify your account by following instructions in the email sent you as a result of the registration process
  4. Log in to your account
  5. Click the "Submit a Rap" link in the left column
  6. Fill out and submit the form. Don't forget to choose the MP3 from your hard drive
  7. Your MP3 is awaiting approval and upon approval will go live within 72 hours

Rap Approval Process

The approval process can take up to 72 hours but usually happens in the first 24 hours. If your rap does not appear on the site there was probably an issue with the content of your rap or a technical issue with your MP3 file. Sampling of protected material, hate speech, individual 'beef', pornography, and anything else we deem as detrimental to the quality of the web site is strictly forbidden. If there was a technical issue with your MP3 you will be contacted through the email associated with your account. Please make sure emails from @ratemyrap.com do not end up in your spam or junk mail folder.

Increase the Rating of My Rap

There are many ways to increase the rating of your rap.

  1. Contact your fan base to let them know to go to ratemyrap.com and vote for you. We highly recommend that you link them to the page that contains your rap and tell them to bookmark that page so that they can return to it after they register on the site and vote.
  2. Upload quality raps! This is probably the most obvious way to get your rating up. People have generally voted for high quality and very well produced recordings where the rap has a decent flow.
  3. Don't take this too seriously! Please keep in mind that while the site is focused around competition it is not the main purpose of this site. The main purpose is to give up and coming talent a way to get exposure. If you are not even in the top 21 raps this doesn't mean you won't be the next Jay-Z or that you don't have the skills. Also Users of the site do not have the time to vote on every single rap uploaded to the site so it could simply be a matter of fewer votes. Follow steps 1 and 2 if you absolutely need to get your rating up.
